MASK HYSTERIA is SBTC's inaugural public workshop offering, using Commedia dell'Arte-based mask techniques to deepen physical comedy and improv skills.

Maybe you're an improviser looking to physicalize your practice, find your clown, and hone your craft.
No matter your background, Mask Hysteria is your one-stop-shop for working "outside in." Using Commedia dell’Arte masks, our workshops guide you to embrace ease and simplicity as you access your sense of play, in the pursuit of abandoning your inner critic. Our workshop classes are designed so you can attend them all as a complete series, or just drop-in to the one that feels most relevant for you now.
The classes are designed and facilitated by Soft Brain Theatre Company's founding members, who have studied mask and physical theatre in New York, Budapest, Barcelona, Florence, and the mountains of Greece. For this series, SBTC teams up with clown teaching artist Andrés Sánchez to bring you 5 skills-based classes that feature devising, collaboration, and masks in each session.
All classes are free with a suggested donation of $15.
